WHO WE ARE
Since 2008, the Vipers have been dedicated to inspiring young swimmers and fostering a love for a sport they can enjoy for a lifetime.
What we teach
We train both new and experienced swimmers in every phase of competitive swimming, with a focus on:
Overall technique
All competitive strokes
Proper diving form
Breathing skills
Endurance building
Teamwork and sportsmanship
Our Programs
During the summer, the Vistancia Vipers compete in the Desert Swim League. The season runs from late May through mid-July and includes daily practices, weekly competitive meets, and a Championship meet to close the season. Our goal is to combine strong competition with a fun, team-first atmosphere — creating life-long memories for our swimmers.
Outside of the summer season, we offer year-round monthly swim sessions for those who want to keep training. These sessions include two practices per week and two meets each month, giving swimmers a chance to maintain skills, stay connected with teammates, and continue improving throughout the year.
Our Mission
Our emphasis is not focused on winning or losing, but personal development set through goal setting. Goal setting in the pool, in education and life is an important part of the Viper swim philosophy. Swimmers learn sportsmanship, teamwork, and acquire swimming skills that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
Our Culture
We believe swimming should develop more than just strokes — it builds resilience, teamwork, and life skills. We celebrate progress, effort, and attitude alongside performance. Every season is a chance to grow, connect, and have fun as part of the Vipers family.
Our Values
Effort Over Outcome – Hard work and improvement matter more than medals.
Positive Coaching – Every correction builds confidence and skill.
Safety First – In the water and on deck, safety is non-negotiable.
Team Spirit – We cheer for every swimmer, not just ourselves.
Respect Always – For coaches, teammates, opponents, officials, and our facility.
Who Can Swim
Any children ages 5-18 who can swim 25 yards unassisted in at least one legal swimming stroke. These are not swim lessons, as the team size is too large for non-swimmers.
About the Desert Swim League (summer)
The Desert Swim League (DSL), established in 1969, is a 10-12 week summer competitive sprint swim league. Our goal is to provide a competitive atmosphere in which eligible swimmers can compete in all strokes and relays without the rigors of competing in a club or year round swim program.
Brian Metheny (YMCA) founded the DSL in 1969, his daughter Jen now heads the league as President. Taylor Hayes (Vistancia) is the Treasurer.
