What we do

During the summer, our team competes in the Desert Swim League. Our summer season starts in late May through mid-July and includes daily practices and weekly competitive swim meets, along with Championships at the end of the season. We aim to have the most competitive and fun summer swim team in hopes to create life-long memories for our swimmers. More information on the Desert Swim League is available here.

During the months outside of our summer swim program, we offer year-round monthly swim sessions. These consist of weekly practices for swimmers that want to continue training throughout the year. Sessions include 2x per week practices and one meet per month. For more information about the next session please check out schedule page here.

Our Mission

Our emphasis is not focused on winning or losing, but personal development set through goal setting.  Goal setting in the pool, in education and life is an important part of the Viper swim philosophy.  Swimmers learn sportsmanship, teamwork, and acquire swimming skills that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

WhO CAN SWIM

Any children ages 4-18 who can swim 25 yards unassisted in at least one legal swimming stroke.  These are not swim lessons, as the team size is too large for non-swimmers.

ABOUT THE DESERT SWIM LEAGUE (Summer)

The Desert Swim League (DSL), established in 1969, is a 10-12 week summer competitive sprint swim league. Our goal is to provide a competitive atmosphere in which eligible swimmers can compete in all strokes and relays without the rigors of competing in a recreation or year round swim program.

The DSL is not a corporation, sole proprietorship, partnership or individual entity. Nothing legally binds us except the DSL Rules. We are directed by elected or appointed representatives. Rule is by majority. Our principles are to promote and support equality, respect, and the people's interest.

Brian Metheny (YMCA) founded the DSL in 1969, his daughter Jen now heads the league as President. Maynard Keenan (Bellair) is the Secretary/Treasurer.
